Caring for Your Programmable Crock Pot

You'll find that a programmable crock pot or slow cooker is one of the easiest appliances to clean after using. But don't let all that ease lull you into a careless mistake. Keep your slow cooker working for you by following these easy cleaning tips.

Always unplug your programmable crock pot before trying to clean it. Of course, you know this but sometimes we get in a hurry and/or begin splashing soap and water nearby without thinking. The short cords on appliances these days make this an unlikely mistake but you should always unplug your crock pot from the electrical outlet when you are straight through with it, anyway. Then let it come to room climatic characteristic before cleaning. Make this a habit.

Programmable Cookers

There are two parts to your programmable crock pot, immersible and non-immersible. Let's begin with the non-immersible parts, the aluminum heating unit and the climatic characteristic probe.

Clean the surface of the heating base with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Do not immerse in water. Pay extra concentration to the programmable buttons as these tend to attract sticky fingers while you are cooking.

Don't forget to clean the climatic characteristic probe if you used it. Again, don't immerse it in water. Just wipe it thoroughly with a soapy dishcloth and warm water.

The following parts of your programmable crock pot are immersible, but use caution when handling your removable ceramic bowl.

Give the ceramic crock a occasion to cool before you begin cleaning. No good ever comes from mixing quick climatic characteristic changes and ceramic bowls. Not only should you let the aluminum owner of your slow cooker come to room temperature, it is very foremost that the ceramic bowl be allowed to come to room temperature, too.

As for the removable ceramic crock, you can immerse it in soapy water after it has cooled. Give it a good scrub - but no steel wool or abrasive scrubbing pads. Soft cleansing pads - even a spatula to work at any stubborn stuck-on food - are okay to use.

The top of your programmable crock pot is immersible, too. You'll want to clean it with a soft rag to take off steam and any food particles that might be there.

Dry all parts with a soft dish cloth, stack together and store.

Care in cleaning your programmable crock pot will allow you to enjoy it for many meals and years to come.
